The challenge: British Gas wanted to promote the benefits of its new Smart Meter technology, which shows you how much energy you’re using – helping you save money.

The solution: Let’s be honest, talking about your Gas bill is slightly less than riveting. So when Seven Publishing asked us to put together some films on the subject, we had a job on our hands. But some bright spark suggested using a real person to try out this clever kit – and they were excited. Rather than bang on about her boiler, journalist Lucy Jolin sat down in her sunny garden with a cuppa, and told us all about it. Watch the video and you’ll see for yourself.

The result: The campaign ran in print and online, in the Guardian and Observer, with the videos bringing the whole thing to life. The client loved it so much, there were no amends. How often can you say that?
